Catalina Echaurren López is the artist behind La Catalina. Coming from a background in Translation and Linguistics, she began her practice as a way to disconnect from verbal language and develop a more intuitive relationship with her creativity.

Shaped by an emotional, instinctive, and unplanned approach to form and color, her ceramics have allowed her to explore a more feminine, expressive, and experimental way of communicating.

Lately, she's been working with glazes and wax resist to create textured and painterly surfaces, using the three-dimensionality of the pieces to bring a sense of surprise and rhythm.

She makes all of her work by hand in a studio in London.
